The Knights escaped Mohave Accelerated with a narrow victory in overtime. This game may have been the biggest comeback in school history. The Knights rallied from being down 19 late in the 3rd quarter and from being down 7 with 45 seconds left to win the game. The Knights started out slow the first 3 quarters of the game. They could not stop Mohave from getting to the basket. Mohave gained a big lead on layups and free throws. In the 4th quarter the Knights picked up the pressure. They were relentless defensively forcing 25 turnovers for the game. Junior Gerardo Villescas led the way with 6 steals. Junior Donovan Simmons and Senior Tommy Roberts also had 4 steals a piece. The Knights battled and battled to get within 3 with 10 seconds left. Simmons then drove down the right side of the court and found Villescas for a 3 point shot at the buzzer to send the game into over time. Overtime was all the Knights. Freshman August Hubbard hit a big 2 point shot to put the Knights up one and then Junior Spencer Latouff got a huge steal on the next play leading to a Roberts layup to seal the game. Roberts led the scoring with 20 points. Sophomore Hugo SantaCruz had a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds and only played in the 2nd half. Villescas chipped in 10 points and Hubbard had 8. Knights move to 15-3.
